SPOKANE, Wash. -The City of Spokane has installed two additional "Give Real Change" meters in an effort to end homelessness.

New meters were placed at the STA Plaza and at the Spokane Airport. Bus riders can donate extra change at the Plaza in downtown Spokane and airline passengers can donate their spare change at security checkpoints in both terminals of SIA.

“We appreciate our partnership with STA and the airport,” said Spokane Mayor David Condon in a press release. “We want to say ‘thank you’ to those who use these modes of transportation and for showing that Spokane truly cares about all of its people.”

Meters are now located at 12 locations throughout the city. Donors can contribute spare change or use their credit cards. You can also add money to your monthly utility bill or call 311. Those who need help can call 211.

The first meters and signs went up in September at some of the city's hotspots for panhandling.
