PULLMAN, Wash. -Family and friends of Lauren McCluskey gathered together on Pullman High School's track/field on Wednesday.

McCluskey's grandparents attended the vigil, along with tens of friends and a little less than 100 people total. The memorial was led by the family's pastor, Steve Van Kuiken.

Organizers said the vigil was an opportunity for those closest to Lauren and the McCluskey family to show their love and solidarity. Both of Lauren's parents, Jill McCluskey and Matt McCluskey, were told about the memorial and approved, according to organizers. Both parents are temporarily in Utah, where Lauren was murdered at her school, the University of Utah.

McCluskey made her mark at as a track star at Pullman High School, where she eventually became a state champion in the high jump and school record-holder in the 100-meter-hurdle.

Lauren's high school class (2015) is hosting a candlelight vigil next Thursday (November 1) at 6 p.m. It will also take place at the Pullman High School track. For more details, click here.
